Well, I did it. I signed up. Oddly, though, their site seems to be very determined that I did not, and won't let me log in. I'll wait until tonight, and if it still doesn't let me log in I'll try the sign-up process again.

I'm scared of NaNo. Mostly scared that I won't start at all, because I've been shilly-shallying over which story-line to attempt. But I think I have decided: I should choose the stupidest most inane concept I can come up with. Why? Because that way I won't beat myself up for 'ruining' a good idea.

Given the requirement of being dumb, it does have to interest me, so I'm thinking it should include bi boys.

Since I don't want to do a lot of research, I can use my high school years as the setting. Although what I can remember of my high school years is rather dim. But that way preparation for the next few days can include typing up my journals from high school.

Soooo.... If I write 2,000 words for 25 days I should be to the 50,000 word mark. It doesn't sound so bad put that way. Except when I think about how hard it is for me to even write 100 word for a drabble. Right.

*is scared*

Wheeee, and yet another victim has succumbed to the lure of NaNo! Ahem... Hey, glad to see you're going to give it a go, really :) And yeah, it doesn't sound that hard indeed, but I've been trying to get 2000 words written for days now (although the past days I've been reading and not actually writing) and the best I have done was a mere 1200. *sigh* But still, the more the merrier! Will you also make a special LJ account for NaNo?

OOOOH YAY! Another NaNo'er!

Come on over and join [livejournal.com profile] nano_nutters if you'd like. :) We will pressure support you in your endeavour to write 50k!

The nice thing is... you don't have any pressure in the writing quality. It can be absolute CRAP... I mean, that's what National Novel Editing Month is for. ;)

Yay! You can do it!

Remember - quantity not quality. Just write down any old rubbish and don't edit any of it out. That's my plan, at least.

Yes, but your any old rubbish is always publishing quality as it stands.

I did 25,000 words last year, and that was on top of an arseload of essays and exams. It's not so hard if you just keep writing.

But if you're there writing essays and exams anyway, maybe it's not so hard to stay and write something else? I don't know. I don't have any excuse. When I try to figure out where my time is spent it seems as though I must spend 4.5 hours every day reading and replying to livejournal, which doesn't seem possible.

I don't know. Essays and exams are a matter of MUST WRITE OR FAIL. NaNoWriMo is not something Uni sets for me to do, therefore I don't feel the same pressure to do it.

4.5 hours on LJ doesn't sound unreasonable, to be honest...

After today I'm wondering if 4.5 hours on LJ is only the days when I decide to sleep a little. Good god, I'm an LJ junky.

I don't know how I'm going to cope without regular Internet access. Guess I'll be using my local library again, like in high school. *sigh* I'm so addicted to LJ!
