I just love this story
bravecows posted, What You Wait For. And yes, part of the reason I love it is because she wrote it while listening to this song (Ed's Redeeming Qualities' "I Will Wait"), which is and old favorite between
eor and I, and is funny, upbeat and catchy. And she sprinkles quotes from the song liberally through her post and her comment-replies. But mainly I love it because she goes such a different direction with the story from what you'd expect if you already knew the song. Well, with the characters she wanted to work with, I guess she had to. Oh, and I suppose also I love it because even though they are characters from a particular anime she's into, you don't have to know anything at all about that universe in order to read it. Meaning, for me, it reads like an original fic. Give them different names and I wouldn't know the difference.
And, I must say, this comment from
destervetha, where she plots out how to shoot the story as an indie short movie with the song as theme music, makes me want to send the whole thing to Efram Potelle and see if he'll fall for it.
And, I must say, this comment from

It's one of those AUs that are so very AU that I'm not sure they work all that well as fanfic. I'm glad you think it works as origfic! 'Cos I was just thinking it was more origfic than anything else, except that in my head the people in it were being played by characters I knew.
I'm going to haveta figure out some way to upload that song as well as the story to my website. I do think you oughtn't read it without listening to the song! For one thing, I expect it's lots more depressing if you read it without the song being silly in the background.
