Gasping out of sleep
Half hour before the alarm
Full lungs want chai tea

Inspired (challenged?) by [livejournal.com profile] daegaer.  Well, it's just the start of my day.  It took me forever to get around to making the chai (and no milk - I can't have that when my lungs are acting up.)  It did seem to help a bit.  Make me cough, anyway.  I put in black pepper, white pepper and chili - it couldn't help but make me cough. :)  Also cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon, whittled ginger, all in a base of lapsang souchong, with two tablespoons of honey.  I feel like a witch doctor.

Yeah, I used the theory that the more stuff I put in, the better. ;) Aside from the chili, though, I think all the rest was mentioned in one or another of the various recipes at http://www.odie.org/chai/recipes.html . At one point I was baffled as to what 'White khas-khas (Indian name of a spice, which is round dried seeds)' might refer to - I thought possibly it was coriander, but another recipe mentioned white pepper, so I went with that.

Although lapsang souchong is probably too strong. Traditionally it should probably be Darjeeling or Assam.
