...but I have no interest in sending a message to her right now. My emotions are apparently still too caught up with the person who doesn't seem to realize I have a crush on her. And I'm all too aware of the fact that sometimes 'not realizing' is a polite way to say "I'm not really interested." I've been pining well over a year, now, I should probably move on.

I'm not sure what to say to this. Can't you just send this girl a message and see what happens? You might not get any feelings but you won't know until you tried?
