I discussed how to make apple pie with one of my supervisors at work, yesterday (he used to be a cook), and I'm feeling much less nervous about it. I think I can do it, today. :) If I don't dawdle too much. Time goes by, doesn't it? What have I been doing? Reading "Winter Holiday" by Arthur Ransome, and looking at the cool video of dolphins playing with bubble rings which [livejournal.com profile] mamaslyth posted. Also, thinking about Eor's hypothesis of why CNN wanted to focus so much on Heath Ledger's death (so they wouldn't have to talk about the Fed's desperate attempt to stimulate the economy, yesterday, which did have an effect but not really enough of one.) And taking a shower.

Now must get the garbage out, I think I hear the truck in the distance. And make a store run for ice-cream. Because if I'm going to have pie it would be a shame to not have ice-cream.

Well. The pie is done. *looks at it dubiously* I know the filling tastes good, but the top crust turned itself into a crumble crust as I was putting it on. So I dropped a few butter shavings onto it hoping the extra flavor would make up for how bad it looks. I think it will taste great, if the leftover filling is any indication (I cooked it down a bit more to a sort of applesauce). I'm thinking I should have cut the apples smaller to begin with, though. Ah well. It's a learning experience. Now I need to do a pile of dishes. :P And possibly eat something more. So far I've had rice with pepperonies and feta cheese. (Which is really quite tasty, btw. Rice cookers still rock.)
